Wisdom
“The
saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge
faster than society gathers wisdom” - thinks Isaac Asimov. Indeed, this
is the challenge of our lifetime. The technological revolution with its
exponential growth, not only influenced, but even determined the course
of human civilization. At the beginning of the new millennium,
technological possibilities have already exceeded our ability to use
them at their true value. The explosive evolution of a new structures
put us in a dilemma: instead of seeking structures to solve functions,
we seek functions for existing and future structures. A serious problem
right now is the gap between our skill and our wisdom. In fact, the more
we are investing in the latest and greatest technology, the less we
tend to invest in the greatest gadget of all: our minds. Sooner or
later, comes a time when we can't keep up with the latest and greatest
advances in technology and rather than being revered for our wisdom and
experience, we will be demoralized by our inability to navigate
technology or perform at the speed demanded in our world. 😔
